Workforce 2035 (2024-2025)

The project

Background and objective

The study was commissioned and conducted in collaboration with the ‘TRANSFORMOTIVE Network’ to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region in adapting to the challenges of digitalization, technology and sustainability.

The focus of this study is on the automotive industry and related sectors, as the regional industry is significantly influenced by these sectors. To successfully manage the change, employees must be actively involved in the transformation process and the world of work must be adapted to social trends. The study therefore focuses on the following points:

  • Formulating a target image for the ‘Workforce 2035’ of manufacturing companies in the automotive industry in Heilbronn-Franken
  • Identifying the factors that will significantly change work and competence requirements in the automotive industry by 2035
  • Describing future requirements for specific job profiles
  • Practical recommendations for companies

Method

  • Environment analysis incl. literature research
  • Expert interviews
  • Participatory workshops
  • Scenario technique

Results

  • Development of challenges and opportunities arising from developments in the organisation, the expertise of people and technologies for the workforce of 2035.
  • A target vision for the regional ‘workforce of 2035’
  • Recommendations for action in the three central topic areas: ‘New Technologies’, ‘New Work & Leadership’ and ‘New Skills’, in order to be able to tackle the challenges identified above in a targeted manner and to design a future-viable working world.
