The Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI carries out research for practical applications in seven competence centers with a total of 28 business units and aims to be an independent thought leader supporting society, politics and business. In our work, we not only apply a broad spectrum of advanced scientific theories, models, methods and social science assessment tools, but also continuously develop these using the empirical findings from the research projects carried out.
Fraunhofer ISI is a leading international institute for innovation research. We can only achieve excellence in our mission if we are internationally inclusive and open-minded. We regard employees with a migrant background as a great social and intellectual asset. We are proud of our international character and of our commitment to the inclusion of diverse groups of all kinds and we fully support the Charta der Vielfalt (Diversity Charter), of which the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft is a signatory, as well as the Fraunhofer Statement against extremism. We see diversity in the world of work and in society not only as an opportunity for enrichment, but also as a basic requirement for economic success and a prosperous society.
More than 300 employees from a total of 25 different countries carry out research at our institute. Our expertise is based on the synergy of our employees' technical, economic and social science knowledge.
For our clients, we examine the scientific, economic, ecological, social, organizational, legal and political conditions that give rise to innovations and their subsequent effects. We use scientifically substantiated analysis, evaluation and foresight methods. Our assessments of the potentials and limitations of technical, organizational or institutional innovations help decision-makers from business, science and politics to set a strategic course and therefore support them in creating a favorable environment for innovation.
