Researcher
Dr. Christine Richter is a social geographer and has been working for Fraunhofer as a researcher in the Innovation Acceptance Unit since December 2019, initially for the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW in Leipzig. Since January 1, 2025, the unit has been part of Fraunhofer ISI in Leipzig. Her research focuses on various aspects of urban transformation in an international context, in particular the management of housing, water infrastructure and land rights, and the associated digitalization processes. Christine Richter primarily uses concepts of Science and Technology Studies (STS), which occasionally serve as a bridge to topics of peri-urban and rural areas.
From 2008 to 2019, she worked in international applied research projects and university teaching at the University of Amsterdam and the University of Twente (PhD, 2014) in the Netherlands. Previously, she worked as a geospatial data specialist in public administration and private industry in Colorado, United States, where she also completed her B.A. and M.A. studies at the University of Denver.
