Researcher
Dr. Thore Dietrich has been working as a researcher in the Innovation Acceptance Unit since January 2019, initially for the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy. Since January 1, 2025, the unit has been part of Fraunhofer ISI in Leipzig. At the same time, he has been working as CTO at the Hospital Charité since 2018 on the spin-off of a start-up for the development of autologous heart valves for children with congenital heart defects.
Dr. Dietrich graduated as a biologist in 2002 from the Humboldt University of Berlin in the field of university medicine at the Charité in the department of radiology with a doctorate in medicine. From 2001 to 2016, he was head of operations at the Cardiology Research Laboratory of the German Heart Center Berlin (DHZB) for Imaging. He was involved in the development and management of preclinical experimental research. His focus was on magnetic resonance imaging and the development of novel contrast agents for medical imaging. He was also involved in the design of innovative optical methods for new targets in MRI imaging for double-labeled contrasts. He coordinated and planned projects with start-ups and the pharmaceutical industry in a leading role. From 2008 to 2017, Dr. Dietrich was involved in teaching at the Cardio-Magnetic Resonance Academy of the German Heart Center Berlin (DHZB) at Charité. During the same period, he was responsible for biological safety at the DHZB's genetic engineering facility. In 2016, he obtained his MBA from the University of Potsdam. From November 2016 to the end of 2017, he worked in the study center for project management in the administration of third-party funds at the DHZB.
