Head of Crowd Innovation Unit
Dr. Robin Bürger has been working for Fraunhofer since 2010, initially as a researcher at the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW in Leipzig. Since 2015, he has headed the Crowd Innovation Unit, which has been part of Fraunhofer ISI in Leipzig since January 1, 2025. He previously studied business administration at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, specializing in finance and international marketing, and graduated with a degree in business administration in 2007. He then completed his doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for Economics in Jena in the fields of entrepreneurship and financing. In addition to scientific publications, conference contributions and practice-oriented work in this field, he led the international innovation transfer projects ACTCLEAN and PRESOURCE during his time at Fraunhofer IMW. He is currently developing a contemporary open innovation platform for the early market validation of promising innovation projects as part of the BMBF project “Clusterfeedback”. Another application-oriented project, “crowdFANding”, received the Thuringian Innovation Award in the Audience Award category in 2016 and was awarded the Central German Fundraising Prize in silver in 2019 after three successful project runs. As a trained banker, Dr. Bürger can look back on several years of professional experience in the field of financing innovations and is an active expert of the Förderkreises Gründungs-Forschung e.V.
