Lukas Willing

Researcher

Lukas Willing has been working as a researcher in the Innovative Regions Unit since July 2023, initially for the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW in Leipzig. Since January 1, 2025, the unit has been part of Fraunhofer ISI in Leipzig. Prior to that, he had already been a researcher in the Innovation Policy and Transfer Design Unit at Fraunhofer IMW since April 2023.

He studied economics at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich (B. Sc.) and at the University of Leipzig (M. Sc.) with a focus on econometrics in the context of various questions of institutional and macroeconomics. In his master's thesis, he investigated the effect of habit formation on voting behavior and evaluated geodata in the programming language R, among other things. He was able to seamlessly build on the skills he acquired in R during this work at Fraunhofer IMW and ISI and is responsible for processing and analyzing various data sources in various projects. His main focus is on the topics of structural change and location and regional analyses.
