Dr. Yuri Campbell

Deputy Head of Data Science for Innovation Unit

Dr. Yuri Campbell has been working for Fraunhofer since February 2018, initially for the Fraunhofer Center for International Management and Knowledge Economy IMW in Leipzig. Since August 2023, he has been deputy head of the Data Science for Innovation Unit, which has been part of Fraunhofer ISI in Leipzig since January 1, 2025. Previously, he was a researcher at Fraunhofer IMW since February 2018. Prior to that, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MPI MIS) in Leipzig, where he also completed his doctorate in mathematics with a specialization in probability and statistics magna cum laude in 2017. In his PhD thesis “Large Deviations of Log-Likelihood Ratios and Asymptotic Hypothesis Testing”, he investigated and proved definitive limits to the efficiency of statistical inference in the context of large data sets. In 2011, he received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of São Paolo with honors while working on algorithmic definitions of statistically optimal predictions of symbolic-chaotic time series analysis. He also developed artificial intelligence algorithms for a research consortium in São Paulo.
