Prof. Dr. Emmanuel Muller

Associate Researcher

Emmanuel Muller is economist, who specialises in innovation and knowledge economics, and the coordinator of the French-German research chair evoREG (www.evoREG.eu) at the University of Strasbourg.

He has been exploring evolutionary economics and innovation policies with the help of qualitative and quantitative methods for 25 years. He has been a senior researcher at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI (Karlsruhe, Germany) since 1993 and at the Bureau d'Economie Théorique et Appliquée (BETA, University of Strasbourg, France) since 1992. He has held a professorship at the University of Applied Sciences Kehl (Germany) since 2019.

His main research areas deal with national and regional innovation strategies, innovation in SMEs and KIBS (Knowledge-Intensive Business Services) and the evaluation of public research policies.

Emmanuel Muller works regularly for the European Commission, German Federal Ministries, French national and regional leading bodies as well as further international organizations.

In 2013 he won the UAM-Accenture Award for the best paper on innovation in services.

2016 he was involved as a senior advisor to the DG Research for the evaluation of the H2020 NMBP program (Nanotech – Materials – Biotech – Production technologies).
In 2016, he was invited as guest professor by the Tôyô University in Tokyo for a series of lectures on innovation systems and innovation management.
