Study on I4.0 readiness (update 2022) with a special focus on sustainability and resilience

This study is a follow-up of analyses of I4.0 readiness in 2015 and 2018 in German manufacturing based on the latest survey wave German Manufacturing Survey 2022 by Fraunhofer ISI. In addition to the current view of the state of I4.0 readiness in the manufacturing sector. In addition to looking at the current state of I4.0 readiness in the manufacturing sector, the interplay between I4.0 readiness and sustainability in production, especially with regard to CO2 emissions and energy consumption, as well as the resilience of the industry of Baden-Wuerttemberg with regard to the energy shortage or Russian war and with regard to supply chains and production systems will be analysed.

The objective is to gain a better understanding of the development of I4.0 readiness in the manufacturing sector over the last years and to analyse the impact on sustainability activities and a strengthening of resilience depending on the production context and value creation position.
