Simon Lukas Bußmann studied environmental engineering at RWTH Aachen University, majoring in process engineering. During his studies, Simon Lukas Bußmann worked as a research assistant at RWTH Aachen University and at the Leibniz Institute for Interactive Materials. At the Institute of Industrial Furnace Engineering (IOB) at RWTH Aachen University, he worked on CO2-neutral process heat generation in the lime and cement industries. As part of his bachelor's thesis and his work at the Leibniz Institute, he dealt with membrane technologies for the selective recovery of ions from process wastewater. He completed internships at Reiling on the recycling of photovoltaic systems and at the Industrial Technology Research Insitute in Hsinchu, Taiwan on the topic of biogas synthesis. In 2021, he completed a semester abroad at the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel. In 2022, he wrote his master's thesis on the production, optimization, and application of a novel membrane aeration stirrer for biotechnological processes.
