Dr.-Ing. Robin Barkhausen

Researcher

Robin Barkhausen has been working as a researcher in the field of energy efficiency at the Competence Center for Energy Technologies and Energy Systems of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI since February 2021.

His research areas include both qualitative and quantitative assessments of technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency in households, commerce, and industry, as well as the development of eco-design studies for products.

He completed his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and his master's degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH), as well as Energy Engineering and Management at the Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon (IST). As part of his InnoEnergy master's program, he also integrated courses at the ESADE Business School in Barcelona into his curriculum. Robin Barkhausen was awarded a Doctor of Engineering (Dr.-Ing.) degree from the Technical University of Darmstadt in the summer of 2024. His doctoral thesis is titled "Advancing the Understanding and Impact Assessment of Circular Economy Product Legislation in the European Union."
