Fraunhofer ISI conducts capacity building workshops in energy system modelling. Training workshops can comprise all steps towards creating and operating an energy system model for the question of research. From designing the model and defining data requirements, towards data collection, building up harmonized databases, implementing data in the model, operationalizing it and creating and comparing scenarios. Training workshops can be based on third party commercial software, such as the Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning System (LEAP), a scenario-based tool for climate change mitigation analysis developed at the Stockholm Environment Institute.
Fraunhofer ISI has vast experience with training workshops in numerous countries. Among others, Fraunhofer ISI has supported representatives of Mexico, Serbia, as well as Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam to construct and employ energy and climate mitigation models to support policy design.
