Dr. Elisabeth Dütschke

Head of the Department of Energy Policy and Energy Markets

Dr Elisabeth Dütschke has been head of the Department of Energy Policy and Energy Markets since October 2023. From 2019 to 2025, she was also head of the Business Unit Actors and Social Acceptance in the Transformation of the Energy System. Elisabeth Dütschke has been working as a researcher and project manager at Fraunhofer ISI since 2009.

Elisabeth Dütschke researches the societal and social aspects of the energy transition, focusing particularly on the acceptance of new technologies, sustainable mobility, climate-friendly consumption patterns, and the decarbonization of the economy. Her work highlights fostering societal change through social and technological innovations, as well as the necessary political frameworks, including areas such as Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS). She supports decision-making processes and advises policymakers and institutions on energy and climate issues. Additionally, she analyzes behavioral patterns and decision-making in the context of energy efficiency and renewable energies.

Elisabeth Dütschke studied psychology, business administration and marketing. For her PhD thesis she received an award from Südwest Metall as an outstanding contribution to research. In addition to her academic work, she has experience in consulting for private and public organisations, journalism and academic teaching. Since 2023, she has been Associate Editor of the journal Energy Research & Social Science. From 2018 to 2023, she was co-editor of the journal Umweltpsychologie.
