Malena Brockschmidt

Joint Innovation Hub

Malena Brockschmidt studied media and computer science at the Westphalian University of Applied Sciences in Gelsenkirchen, graduating with a Master of Science. Before and during her studies, she gained experience in both agency life and research, and refined her skills in digital and print design, web development, software ergonomics and digital teaching methods.

At the Institute for Internet Security - if(is) in Gelsenkirchen, Malena Brockschmidt was responsible for the institute's own websites for several years, both as a designer and developer and as a content manager, and in this context she also dealt with IT security issues.

In the later course of her studies, she focused in particular on the development and use of AI applications and their potential in the context of autonomous systems, before she turned her attention to the user-centered design process as part of her master's thesis.

Since September 2023, Malena Brockschmidt has been working as a research associate for the Joint Innovation Hub of the Fraunhofer ISI in Heilbronn. She supports the team with her broad expertise in both applied computer science and media design. The design and development of accessible interfaces and data visualizations are at the center of her work. Among other things, she is particularly interested in examining user experience (UX) in the context of artificial intelligence (AI) and the transfer of UX research into practice in general.
