Prof. Dr.-Ing. Clemens Rohde

Clemens Rohde is head of the Energy Efficiency business unit in the Competence Center Energy Technologies and Energy Systems at Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI since 2012. Since September 2010 he is a researcher and project manager there. Since November 2024 he has also been head of the Competence Center Energy Technologies and Energy Systems.

He is honorary professor for systemic aspects of energy efficiency at the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he lectures on Energy and Resource Efficiency and Climate Protection.

His areas of research include the development and evaluation of instruments for improving energy efficiency in the household, commercial and industrial sectors and the assessment and analysis of energy efficiency measures in these sectors. Questions of financing and evaluation of multiple benefits of energy efficiency are another research focus.

He studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt, where he graduated in 2002. Subsequently, he worked as a researcher in national and international research projects at the Department of Waste Management at the Technical University of Darmstadt until 2007. His work focused on waste management and technology as well as life cycle assessment in product development and waste management. In 2007 he received his doctorate in engineering. He then worked for three years as a dean's assistant at the Department of Civil Engineering and Geodesy at Technical University of Darmstadt.
