Cooperations on the transformation of the energy system within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft

Fraunhofer Group for Energy Technologies and Climate Protection

In its member institutes, the Fraunhofer Group for Energy Technologies and Climate Protection develops technologies and innovations for the generation, distribution and storage of energy as well as for its efficient use.

Fraunhofer ISI enhances the Group with its competence in systems analysis and innovation and acceptance research.

Fraunhofer Energy Alliance

Fraunhofer ISI has been a member of the Fraunhofer Energy Alliance since it was set up around 20 years ago. Key offerings include product development and (research) services in the field of energy generation, storage, distribution and integration.

Prof. Harald Bradke (Head of the Competence Center Energy Technology and Energy Systems) acts as the Alliance’s deputy spokesperson.

Cluster of Excellence Integrated Energy Systems CINES

The Fraunhofer Cluster of Excellence Integrated Energy Systems CINES has addressed the central technological and economic challenges of the energy transition since 2020. Its goal is the system and market integration of high shares of variable renewable energies into the energy system.

Its board of directors include Prof. Jakob Edler (Executive Director of Fraunhofer ISI) and Prof. Harald Bradke (Head of the Competence Center Energy Technology and Energy Systems). Dr. Tobias Fleiter (Head of the Business Unit Demand Analyses and Projections) and Dr. Anne Held (Head of the Business Unit Renewable Energies) are in charge of the research field of Energy System Analysis.

ENIQ – Energy Intelligence by Fraunhofer

The showroom “ENIQ – Energy Intelligence by Fraunhofer” on the EUREF Campus in Berlin provides an interactive place for the transfer of knowledge for Fraunhofer’s energy research. Stakeholders from business, politics and society can discuss relevant topics with scientists, initiate projects and create innovations. Event formats for different target groups are supplemented by an exhibition area with changing innovative demonstrators and exhibits from Fraunhofer’s energy research.
