Dr. Bärbel Hüsing

 

Dr. Bärbel Hüsing studied biology at the University of Hannover, Germany, supported by a scholarship of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes. After receiving her diploma in 1986, she worked as a researcher at the Institute of Microbiology, University of Hannover. From 1987-1990, Dr. Hüsing was researcher and PhD student at the Institute of Biotechnology I, Research Centre Jülich GmbH. She received her PhD at the Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf, Düsseldorf, Germany, in 1991. Since 1991, she has been working as researcher and project manager at the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research ISI in Karlsruhe, Germany. From 1996 to 2014, she held several executive positions (1996-2004 deputy head of the department "Innovations in Biotechnology", 2005-2007 deputy head and head (2006-2007) of the competence center "Emerging Technologies", 2008-2014 coordinator of the business unit "Biotechnology and Life Sciences").
